FAS orders popular operator to reduce tariffs and return illegally obtained money

The Federal Antimonopoly Service has established that mobile operator MTS violated the law by unfairly raising tariffs for subscribers, the agency reported.

The illegal increase affected more than 30 million subscribers. Costs for services in April and May increased by an average of 8%.

The telecom operator was ordered to eliminate the violations. The company had to reduce tariffs and return the received 3 billion rubles to the state budget. The department emphasized that this is the first time that the FAS has made such a decision.
