Aliyev called Pashinyan's proposal for a peace treaty unrealistic

The option of signing an uncontested agreement is not suitable for Azerbaijan. Because all provisions are equally important and cannot be separated from each other, Aliyev said. In July, he said that the agreement had been agreed upon by 80-90 percent.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that he considers the option of concluding a peace treaty between his country and Armenia "completely unrealistic". It will reflect only those things that do not cause inconsistencies. He said this during the ceremony of accepting the credentials of the Belgian Ambassador to Baku Julien de Frepon, AzerTag reports.

After the event, the president spoke with diplomats. In the conversation, he recalled the negotiations between representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place in Brussels with the support of the President of the Council of Europe Charles Michel. Then, according to Aliyev, the parties achieved significant progress.

The head of state then noted that he considered the Armenian government's proposal "to sign everything that has already been agreed upon and to save the uncoordinated provisions for the next stage" strange. He called it "completely unrealistic" and emphasized that he was not aware of a precedent for such an approach.

All aspects of the future peace agreement are equally important and cannot be separated from each other, the Azerbaijani president added.

The opinion that "what was agreed upon is sufficient" for the current peace agreement with Azerbaijan was previously expressed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, under these conditions, Yerevan is now ready to sign the contract. Aliyev responded that the contract will be concluded only if everything is agreed upon.

Both Pashinyan and Aliyev mentioned plans to sign a peace deal ahead of the UN climate conference in Baku from November 11 to 22. In July, Aliyev said that 80 to 90 percent of the agreement had already been agreed upon. According to him, Yerevan, in particular, had to abandon its reservations and all conditions regarding Nagorno-Karabakh, which "opened the way to normalization."

Within the framework of the peace plan, Azerbaijan insists on mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity, delimitation and demarcation of borders, opening of existing communications and establishment of new ones. Armenia also considers it necessary to resolve issues of territorial integrity, demarcate borders on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, and lift the blockade of regional communications.

In recent months, Azerbaijan has made two new demands on Armenia. This means supporting Baku's demands for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and amendments to the constitution. In the latter case, Baku is not satisfied with the reference to the 1989 joint resolution "on the reunification" of the Armenian SSR and Nagorno-Karabakh through the declaration of independence of the country.

Pashinyan allowed changes to the constitution to conclude a peace treaty, but accused Baku of interfering in Armenia's internal affairs.
