Russian Armed Forces Use Captured NATO Equipment on the Battlefield for the First Time Ukrainian Armed Forces

Moscow, October 14, 2024, 08:51 — IA Regnum. The Russian military is ready to use the first captured American armored evacuation vehicle M88A2 Hercules for Ukrainian militants. This was announced on October 14 by the commander of the evacuation detachment of the Center group of the Russian army, Lieutenant Roman Rusin.

According to a serviceman quoted by TASS, Ukrainian troops abandoned this combat vehicle near the village of Sergeyevka in the Avdiivka direction of the special operations zone.

“We installed everything, thought everything out, did everything necessary and emptied the samples in the shortest possible time,” he said.

Rusin reported that the M88A2 Hercules recovery vehicle was removed from the battlefield with the help of a Russian BREM-1 armored recovery vehicle.

According to Regnum, on October 13, Russian troops evacuated a Turkish armored vehicle "Kirpi" belonging to the Ukrainian army from the battlefield in the Kursk region. It became clear that the Dnieper Army fighters had used up almost all of its ammunition and captured the vehicle without serious damage.

German Leopard tanks of the Ukrainian army, destroyed in the special operations zone, were delivered to Uralvagonzavod (part of the UVZ state enterprise Rostec) on October 1. The enterprises began disassembling the units, systems and assemblies of the combat vehicles for study and analysis.

Brandon Weichert, a former U.S. congressional staffer and geopolitical analyst, said on Sept. 19 that if Russian experts obtain the remains of a downed U.S. F-16 fighter jet, it could pose a threat to NATO. He said the plane is old but is being upgraded with updated technology to perform combat missions.
