Former Leningrad Region Vice-Governor Moskvin Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Bribery

Mikhail Moskvin, former deputy governor of the Leningrad region for construction, was sentenced to four years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony, including for accepting large bribes. This was reported by the press service of the St. Petersburg court.

In addition, former civil servants were prohibited for five years from holding positions in the civil service and local government bodies related to the exercise of representative, organizational, administrative or economic powers.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office asked the court to sentence Moskvin to eight years of strict regime and a fine of 27 million rubles.

The former civil servant was arrested in March 2023. According to investigators, Moskvin received bribes totaling at least 8.5 million rubles. In addition, Moskvin's actions led to the embezzlement of at least 330 million rubles from the regional shareholder protection fund.

From 2012 to 2015, Moskvin served as Chairman of the Committee for State Construction Supervision and State Professionalism of the Leningrad Region, and since 2015, as Deputy Governor of the region for construction.

In 2021, he took up the position of representative of the governor's office and representative of the Leningrad Region government to the Russian government, and resigned in 2022.
