Former head of Defense Ministry contractor accused of embezzling 100 million rubles
Drogalin and his subordinate Bogdanov were accused of embezzling ₽100 million by falsifying documents on the completion of various stages of weapons development work; the former was placed under house arrest, the latter was arrested.
Former CEO of JSC Scientific and Production Complex Valery Drogalin and his subordinate Alexander Bogdanov were accused of embezzling more than 100 million rubles. The Main Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee reported on the progress of the defense order.
The court detained Bogdanov, and Drogalin was placed under house arrest. Both men are charged, among other things, with large-scale fraud in the defense procurement system (paragraph 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code) and face up to 10 years in prison.
According to the investigation, it turns out that between 2015 and 2017, Drogalin and Bogdanov issued false documents on the completion of several stages of work on the development of weapons systems during the implementation of multimillion-dollar contracts under the State Defense Order. Thus, the investigators concluded, they stole more than 100 million rubles and distributed them among themselves.
According to RBC Company, the Pelengator enterprise, located in St. Petersburg, suffered losses in 2019-2021 and a bankruptcy trustee was appointed there. The main activity is the repair of machinery and equipment, other activities include the production of weapons, special-purpose equipment, etc.
