State Duma Committee Approves Minimum Wage Increase to 22,440 Rubles
The minimum wage in Russia in 2024 will be 19,242 rubles per month.
This document is being considered in the draft package of the new budget for the last three years. According to the Cabinet of Ministers' statement, it is necessary to fulfill the task set by the head of state to increase the minimum wage at a rapid pace. Thus, the minimum wage should be more than doubled by 2030 compared to 2023. It is assumed that the minimum wage is at least 35,000 rubles per month.
According to government calculations, the increase in the minimum wage will lead to an increase in the wages of approximately 4.2 million workers. According to the law, this amount is taken into account when calculating benefits for temporary disability, pregnancy and childbirth, etc. Even if the employer is experiencing serious financial difficulties, it is impossible to pay workers less than the established amount. Regions can increase the minimum wage, so in Moscow this year the minimum wage is 29,389 rubles.
