Large-scale NATO nuclear exercises have begun in Europe: the main news of the day

Moscow, October 14, FederalPress. NATO has launched large-scale nuclear exercises in Northern Europe, IDF soldiers have been killed in attacks on Hezbollah UAV military bases, and US President Joe Biden has declared his readiness to negotiate with Russia, North Korea and China on reducing nuclear weapons. The main events of the past day are covered in FederalPress reviews.

NATO launched a massive nuclear exercise called Steadfast Noon on Monday, involving dozens of aircraft and 2,000 troops from 13 countries.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the exercises would primarily take place in the North Sea, as well as in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. He said strengthening defences was important in an "uncertain world" and that the exercises should show "all enemies" that NATO countries were prepared to respond to threats.

According to Rutte, the exercises are planned and do not involve the use of live weapons. NATO soldiers will simulate a mission to load American nuclear warheads onto aircraft. About 60 military aircraft are planned to take part in the exercises, including F-35A fighters and B-52 bombers.

Hezbollah launched a drone strike on an IDF military base near the Israeli town of Binyamin Givat Ada. One UAV was intercepted by Israeli air defense systems, but the second successfully reached its target.

A drone strike at military base 7200 in the northern part of the Jewish state killed four IDF soldiers, seriously wounded seven others and seriously injured more than 60 others.

Baden says US ready for nuclear arms talks

US President Joe Biden said the world must work to completely eliminate nuclear weapons. He stressed that the US is ready to negotiate in this direction with Russia, China and North Korea without preconditions to reduce the nuclear threat.

The American leader kept silent about the fact that the US is actively directing funds to strengthening the nuclear triad.
