Follow these four rules: My secret to growing healthy eggplant seedlings

Eggplants are difficult to transplant, so as soon as the seeds sprout, they are planted in separate containers with pre-prepared soil. The soil consists of garden soil, humus and sand in a ratio of 2:1:1. The soil temperature should be room temperature.

The depth of planting seeds is no more than 1 cm. After planting, lightly compact the soil, water generously and place the container in a warm place. Immediately after emergence, provide 10 hours of sunlight. This will help prevent the seedlings from stretching and overgrowing, which often happens when there is insufficient light.

I do the first feeding when two true leaves appear on the seedlings. Dissolve 10 g of yeast in 1 liter of warm water and leave for several hours so that the yeast multiplies. Then add 4-5 tablespoons of sugar and mix well. After such feeding, the seedlings begin to grow actively.

The second feeding is done 15 days after the first feeding. I take an incomplete glass of ash, pour it into a container, add 3 liters of boiling water and leave for a day. During this time, the ash settles and useful substances enter the water. Then carefully drain the liquid, dilute it with clean water in a ratio of 1:10 and water the seedlings.

Timely feeding of seedlings and providing them with at least 10 hours of sunlight in the early stages will ensure that they will be strong, healthy and stocky. The final application is made 10 days before planting in the ground. The best fertilizer at this stage of development is herbal infusion.

To prepare the herbal infusion, I take a container and fill it 2/3 full with fresh herbs, which can also be found in the garden. Then fill the container with water and add a ladle of fresh manure (chicken or cow). If you do not have organic matter, you can add regular garden soil. Infuse the mixture for 4-7 days, depending on the temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster the fertilizer ferments. After fermentation is complete, drain the liquid and dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:10. Then water the seedlings at the roots. After transplanting the eggplants into the ground, they should be fed every 15 days.
