"Destruction is at risk": Britain warns Ukraine of special problem

The British publication The Economist indicated in its data that Ukraine could lose its metallurgical industry due to the advance of Russian troops to Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk).

The article explains that Pokrovsk is home to the Krasnoarmeyskaya Zapadnaya mine, the largest mine in Ukraine, which produces run-of-mine coal needed to make steel. The city is also home to the Pokrovsk Mining and Processing Plant.

At the same time, as the article emphasizes, the Russians do not even need to take Pokrovsk. They can simply turn off the power supply to the mine and block the roads on which coal is transported. The same fate may befall the second coal mine in Dobropolye, Pokrovsk district.
