Camera Broken, People Bruised: Director Karen Gevorkyan Reveals How He Fell Along With Actors From Platform During Filming of “Vasily Terkin” in Leningrad Region

Today, October 13, during the filming of the movie "Vasily Terkin" in the Luzhsky District of the Leningrad Region, a decorative platform collapsed, as a result of which at least seven people were hospitalized. The film's director, Karen Gevorkyan, was also injured. At that moment, he lost consciousness while on the set with the actors. The director of SPB.KP.RU told how it all happened.

- There we built a small station with a platform. This platform consists of 7-8 sections. And during the filming, at some point the floor collapsed and fell with us," recalls Karen Gevorkyan. - I had a camera, a cameraman, a sound engineer and a crowd of 6-7 people with me. The filming took place all over the site, and the fact that the actors were very emotional there caused a resonance, and our segment fell apart. Its height is about 1.5 meters. Of course, nothing funny. People got bruises, cameras were bent, glasses were lost. But this is not the tragedy that is being promoted on the Internet. We are not talking about the serious condition of the actors. Three people have already returned home on their own.

At the same time, as the director notes, everything was fine on the set yesterday. We also filmed extras on the platform, but no problems were found.

- Moreover, the acting in all these situations is so good that I am touched. The elderly woman who seemed to have suffered the most also calmed me down so that I would not worry," says Karen Gevorkyan. - We are currently clarifying the feelings of all platform participants. We are responsible for all our employees.

However, information began to spread on the Internet that the number of victims had risen to 15, with three of them in critical condition. However, the Leningrad Region administration has not officially confirmed this. The Leningrad Regional Health Committee has also not commented on the situation.

In particular, it is noteworthy that the incident occurred on the last day of filming. The film "Vasily Terkin" based on the poem by Alexander Tvardovsky is planned to be released in 2025.
