The supermoon will be visible in Moscow on October 17
"The largest and brightest moon of 2024 will be visible over the capital on October 17," said Faina Rubleva, scientific director of the Moscow Planetarium. On this day, the Earth's satellite will be slightly closer to the Earth than usual. Residents of the entire Northern Hemisphere will now be able to observe the so-called supermoon. This astronomical phenomenon is not expected to repeat itself until the end of the year.
In Moscow, a large and bright moon will appear in the sky at 2:30 p.m., Rubleva noted. City residents plan to watch until the evening, if the weather is good.
