"But who is without sin": Putin spoke about Russian swearing
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about Russian obscene language at a meeting of the Council for the Support of the Russian Language and Russian National Languages.
Actress Ekaterina Guseva raised the issue of the need to combat foul language. She compared swearing to "counteracting prayer."
President Vladimir Putin responded by reminding people that swearing is part of the Russian language, but agreed that it was contrary to prayer.
"The church interprets this as a sin. But you know, let him who is without sin cast the first stone," the president said.
President Putin called for a rise in general culture, saying that swearing is a common sin. According to him, in order to express and defend one's position, it is necessary to show people that there are not only swear words, but also other means of expression.
