Live Christmas trees will become 10-20% more expensive
A significant increase in prices is expected, especially in the imported fir sector, due to high logistics costs, but market participants do not expect a decrease in demand.
Market participants predict that prices for live trees will increase by 10-20 percent this winter compared to last year. If last year pine and spruce sold for an average of 1,000 rubles per meter, now they will cost 1,200-1,500 rubles and more.
Prices are expected to rise significantly, especially in the premium imported spruce segment, due to high logistics costs. They are brought to Russia in a roundabout way through neighboring countries. At the same time, market participants do not expect a decrease in demand for live animals, says Sergey Shabetnik, Commercial Director of the company "Zhivaya Elka".
Vladimir Borisov, Director of Public Relations at Elki.biz, expects prices for Christmas trees to rise by 10-15% in all segments.
The nursery says that the Christmas tree itself is bigger and more majestic this year than last year. Of course, good weather conditions and heavy rain played their role.
