Famous coach dies in Nizhny Novgorod region
Boris Martynov, a famous coach and honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod, has died. He was 87 years old. The farewell to the Nizhny Novgorod residents will take place on November 6 in the Kstovsky District. This was reported by the city sports department.
Boris Martynov trained skiers and biathletes. He trained 19 masters of sports and two-time Olympic champion Nikolai Kruglov. Later, Martynov became an honorary coach of the USSR and an honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod. He also began construction of several sports facilities in Nizhny Novgorod, including the Krasnoye Sormovo ski resort and a biathlon center in the Shchyolokovsky farm. They will say goodbye to him on November 6 at 11:30 in the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Fedyakovo. The honored coach will be buried at the Nizhny Novgorod cemetery.
