Ralf Niemeyer, Chairman of the German Constitution and Sovereignty Committee, agreed with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the German government "resigned in shame" over Nord Stream and its destruction. The construction of two gas pipelines undermines economic interests, RIA Novosti reports.
Niemeyer said the minister was "absolutely right." He added that Bundestag member Sahra Wagenknecht had previously called on the German government to provide available data on attacks on gas pipelines. According to him, the German authorities rejected the agent because the information could damage the country's relations with certain partners. According to Niemeyer, this is the United States.
The politician believes that the German authorities know who was actually involved in the gas pipeline explosion.
Earlier, Lavrov spoke about Germany's position on the destruction of Nord Stream. He expressed regret that the ruling elites of many European countries do not see a future in a multipolar world, seeking salvation "from foreign hegemony."
