Economist reveals reason for rising butter prices and makes forecast

Now it is known which factors play the main role in the growth of prices for butter in Russia. Ekaterina Novikova, associate professor of the Department of Economic Theory at the Russian University of Economics. G.V. Plekhanov spoke about the reasons for the growth of prices for this product and suggested how prices will change in the future, reports IA DEITA.RU.

Since the beginning of 2024, butter prices have been on a steep rise. They have increased by almost a quarter. Sometimes, in the press, you can see cases of butter being stolen from stores.

In a conversation with Prime, the expert revealed the main reasons for the rise in oil prices. Butter production is one of the most expensive sectors of the dairy industry. For one unit of butter, producers have to consume a lot of milk. In addition, the dairy business itself is considered expensive. An entrepreneur's investment can pay off in just 7-10 years.

Another factor is the need to feed livestock. It is noteworthy that the main centers of supply and production of this product are located in the border regions of Russia, including Kursk, Lipetsk and Belgorod. In the current situation, feed reserves in these areas are limited, which is also important for the final cost of butter.

Experts predict that butter prices will stabilize as supplies come from abroad, including Iran, India and Turkey.
