Russians' wallets will stop jingling with money

The country may stop minting coins.

Russia may stop issuing small currency. As the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov stated, the problem is that demand is low.

- There is no particular need for changes among the current population. I see that many people do not even accept changes when they are given them. Life will show how convenient it is to produce things that are not interesting to people," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Central Bank of Russia resumed printing banknotes of 10 and 5 rubles. This is because it is more profitable than minting coins of the same denomination. According to Aksakov, this is the right approach, since it allows saving on production costs.

At the same time, according to him, by law there should be one ruble in circulation, since it is the national currency. Aksakov also emphasized that the Central Bank will not carry out devaluation or reforms.
