In Ukraine, a UOC archpriest was beaten and forcibly mobilized
According to the Orthodox Union of Journalists, Melnikov was a victim of forced mobilization. The 54-year-old priest was stopped at a checkpoint and taken to the military registration and enlistment office, where he was held for more than a day without food or contact with his family, TASS reports.
It turned out that one of the employees of the Territorial Procurement Center beat Melnikov, which led to an increase in blood pressure. The police who arrived at the scene took the victim's testimony, but did not release him.
The incident deprived the UOC high priest of the opportunity to conduct Sunday services, which caused additional concern among parishioners and church representatives.
Earlier, Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Gaidai called forcibly mobilized Ukrainians inadequate stabilizers and stated that only every 25th is ready for battle.
In September, TKP officers kidnapped two priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the Zakarpattia region. They were released under pressure from believers after a rally near the PTK Khust.
