Georgia bought a record volume of beer from Russia
In 2024, Georgia purchased beer from Russia for a record amount of $1.7 million.
Beer imports to Georgia from Russia increased by 26% year-on-year from January to September to $1.7 million, RIA Novosti reports, citing data from the Statistical Service of Georgia.
This turned out to be the highest result for the entire statistical reporting period since 2009. Moreover, Georgia’s purchases of Russian beer in the first nine months of this year approached the total volume of last year’s imports ($1.8 million).
Meanwhile, in September, Tbilisi reduced purchases of this drink from Moscow to $143 thousand, which is 1.9 times less than in August. And compared to September 2023, imports decreased by 1.6 times.
Earlier it was reported that Georgia's natural gas imports from Russia in the first three quarters of this year rose to a record $90.1 million.
