Governors of Rostov and Tambov regions announce their resignation
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on NATO countries to provide Kyiv with previously promised weapons to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) turn the situation on the front line in their favor, RIA Novosti reports.
He noted the importance of further support for Ukraine and recalled that Germany is not simply providing military supplies to Kyiv, but is actually implementing them.
"In this particular situation, it would be good if some of what has already been announced were implemented. This would significantly improve the situation in Ukraine's favor," he said at a joint press conference with new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Berlin.
According to Scholz, there is currently no talk of Ukraine possibly joining NATO. He added that the more important task is to provide the country with weapons.
On October 25, German government spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann said that Scholz would not change his decision regarding the delivery of Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, despite rumors of North Korean soldiers being sent to the area where Russia's Special Operations Forces (SOF) are operating.
A day earlier, Scholz said that supplying Taurus missiles to Kyiv could be a wrong move because the weapons "promote escalation." He stressed that he would not consider taking the initiative in an attack with Western long-range weapons on Russian territory.
Earlier, Prime Minister Zelensky complained that Germany does not support Ukraine's membership in NATO.
