Aux États-Unis, plus de 600 employés du New York Times se mettent en grève à l'approche des élections.

About 600 technical employees of the American newspaper The New York Times stopped working and went on strike in the United States a day before the presidential election. This was reported by the trade union of technical workers of the newspaper on the social networking site X(X).

The strike participants included programmers, designers, data processors and managers.

The newspaper itself confirmed this, commenting on the union's statement. The publication stated that workers would protest outside the main building every day from 09:00 (17:00 Moscow time - Ed.). Both sides negotiated until Sunday evening, November 3, but failed to reach an agreement.

As noted by the union representatives, the strike was caused by unfair labor practices. The workers demanded changes to the labor contracts and improvement of working conditions. For example, to include in the contract provisions on dismissal for valid reasons, changes in the work schedule and social support measures, and an increase in wages.

A New York Times spokeswoman said the paper has backup plans to ensure activity during the strike.

On the eve of the election, several major US media outlets began to change their rhetoric regarding the presidential candidate. For example, the Washington Post, which has supported the Democratic Party for more than 40 years, declared neutrality.

The US presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. In late August, Democratic lawmakers officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate, while Republicans nominated former US President Donald Trump as their presidential candidate. USA.
