The Central Election Commission confirmed Sandu's victory in the Moldovan presidential elections
Chisinau, November 4, FederalPress. Moldovan President Maia Sandu, supported by the pro-Western Solidarity Action Party, is leading in the second round of elections with 55.33% of the vote. The National Electoral Commission confirmed the results after all procedures were completed at the polling station.
Last Sunday, Moldova held its second presidential election. Incumbent President Maia Sandu and Alexandru Stoianoglo are competing for the post of head of the republic, who is elected for a four-year term. Sandu justifies the fight against disinformation by promoting the policy of European integration, sanctions against Russia and strengthening control over the media. Accordingly, Stoianoglo emphasizes pragmatic relations with Russia, emphasizing the importance of the Russian economy for Moldova’s stability while maintaining contacts with Europe.
Earlier, the State Duma voiced assumptions about falsifications in the Moldovan presidential elections, similar to the “Romanian scenario.”
