Ministry of Internal Affairs: More than three thousand SVO participants received Russian citizenship

It turned out that, in accordance with the presidential decree, 3,344 foreigners received citizenship.

Volk noted that the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs provided assistance to participants of the Northern Military District of the neighboring country, who were threatened with criminal punishment in their homeland for participating in military actions on the Russian side. In a short time, he applied for Russian citizenship. Now he has nothing to fear and is not threatened with deportation, the department emphasized.

From November 1, 2024, SVO participants in the Russian Federation will no longer need to fill out documents in several organizations to confirm their status. You can now order a certificate at any MFC branch.

In January, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to foreigners who have signed a contract to serve in the Russian Armed Forces or other armed forces.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that over the first eight months of 2024, more than a thousand people lost their Russian citizenship due to non-compliance with state legislation. Among them are those who ignored their initial obligations to register for military service.

"The Ministry of Defense has requested additional information from military registration and enlistment offices about individuals who have acquired Russian citizenship but have not fulfilled this obligation," the statement said.
