Israel ends cooperation with UN agency UNRWA
Israel has officially notified the UN General Assembly that it is ending its cooperation with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), TASS reports. Israel's Permanent Representative to the UN, Danny Danon, announced the decision. He stressed that this was due to the UN's failure to respond to evidence that the radical Palestinian movement Hamas has taken over the UN.
Danon noted that despite mounting evidence of Hamas involvement in UNRWA activities, the UN has taken no steps to change the situation. He said Israel will continue to cooperate with humanitarian groups that are not linked to terrorism. That is why cooperation with UNRWA ended due to accusations of supporting terrorism against Israel.
The Israeli diplomat also expressed the country's readiness to continue cooperation with other humanitarian organizations that do not serve the interests of terrorist organizations.
