How to make zamioculcas grow new leaves: it is enough to eliminate 3 mistakes in growing
Zamioculcas is native to South Africa. Its roots are powerful tubers, similar to potatoes. As they grow, these tubers can break through the sides of the pot and act as the main reservoir of moisture that the plant uses as needed.
However, zamioculcas does not always please its owners with its dense foliage. If your plant does not produce new leaves for a long time, it may be worth reviewing the care. Experienced gardener Ksenia Tsvetkova explained on the Zen channel "Blooming Ficus" the main reasons that prevent good growth of zamioculcas.
A common mistake is to choose a pot that is too big. Many people like to plant spare plants, but in this case, the zamioculcas grows slowly, since the space must first be filled with roots. It is recommended to choose a pot slightly larger than the root system, leaving 1-2 cm of free space around the edges.
It is also important not to forget to breastfeed. Zamioculcas needs nutrients, so use complex fertilizers for succulents. In winter, if your plants are dormant, you can reduce the amount of fertilizer applied.
Lack of light can also affect growth. Zamioculcas is shade-tolerant, but grows best in bright light. The optimal location is a room with a window facing east. In winter, use phytolamps to provide plants with 8 to 10 hours of light per day.
