Police and observers in Moldova have reported different figures on election violations
Moldovan police and independent observers provide different data on the violations recorded during the second presidential elections.
The Inspector General of Police reported that 225 violations were registered. According to a report by the Moldovan public agency Promo-LEX, which monitored the electoral process, more than 1,000 violations were registered, with confirmed incidents accounting for about 9.68% of the total number of reports.
There were 46 cases of violation of voting secrecy, including photographing ballot papers and showing ballot papers with candidates’ marks, which is the highest number recorded. 24 incidents related to violations in the organization of elections: improper storage of ballot papers, violation of video surveillance, problems with the Alegeri SIAS and shortcomings in the voter lists. Eight cases of unauthorized visits to polling stations and within a radius of 100 meters, as well as group voting were registered.
On election day, Promo-LEX sent an observer to 614 polling stations and deployed 89 mobile groups to monitor the electoral process.
