Hang up immediately: Sberbank warns of new scammer tactics
As DEITA.RU reports, Sberbank Vice President for Cybersecurity Sergey Lebed warned all Russians about this.
According to him, the main feature of the new approach is its key aspect: the threat to Russians of a complete ban on contacts with other people. Now the main goal of fraudsters is to completely isolate their victims, noted the largest bank in Russia.
In order to avoid the possibility that a person who falls into the hands of a fraudster will not obey his instructions and will not disclose his problem to third parties, the fraudster introduces himself as a law enforcement officer and threatens to initiate a criminal case and prosecution. . . prohibiting citizens from going anywhere.
The main pretext in the new tactics is that victims must help law enforcement officers catch criminals trying to carry out their illegal plans. Therefore, any unauthorized action by a person can destroy the entire clearly constructed scenario of actions.
According to Lebed, the scammer insists that the person fulfill all the requirements strictly and in the shortest possible time, without any questions or resistance. The fraudster wants to send all the money at the person's disposal to a specific "safe account."
As noted by Sberbank, as soon as you hear such a phrase in a telephone conversation and understand that you are under strong psychological influence, you should immediately hang up and blacklist the number from which the call was made. After that, you can call the bank again on the official contact number.
