Moscow court places Gozman's wife under house arrest

Moscow's Lefortovo Court has placed Marina Egorova, the wife of politician Leonid Gozman (declared a foreign agent of the Russian Federation), under house arrest. Kommersant, citing the official portal of the Court of General Jurisdiction, writes that the October 4 hearing was held behind closed doors. The case does not specify how long he was in custody or what charges were brought against him.

RT, citing judicial sources, reported that a criminal case has been opened against Egorova on charges of smuggling cultural property as part of an organized group.

"Egorova tried to take many valuables and antiques from Russia to Italy, where Gozman now lives (in a villa she bought several years ago). Gozman's family has a residence permit in the country," the RT Telegram channel reports.

According to the publication, one of the organizers of the removal was Gozman himself.

Leonid Gozman was one of the leaders of the coalition of the Right Forces and Right Cause parties. He left Russia in September 2022. In late 2023, a criminal case was opened against him for fake articles about the military. He was arrested in absentia in February 2024, and in July he was sentenced in absentia to 8.5 years in a general regime penal colony.
