"Fairy tales for the poorly educated." Moscow and Kyiv commented on rumors about Ukraine's readiness to create a nuclear bomb

"A Tale for the Poorly Educated." Moscow and Kyiv Comment on Rumors That Ukraine Is Ready to Create a Nuclear Bomb.

On Thursday, October 17, the Bild newspaper reported that Ukraine was considering restoring its nuclear weapons. Kyiv immediately denied the rumors, and Russian officials called the data "complete nonsense." The chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, noted that the information that appeared in the German media was just a "fairy tale for the uneducated."

According to the deputy director, Ukraine does not have the capacity, materials and equipment to create nuclear weapons. He stressed that it is impossible to make such a bomb from nuclear waste.

Kartapolov believes that the only thing Kyiv can do is a radioactive "dirty bomb." Military expert and retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk agrees with his opinion. According to the serviceman, it can be completed in the shortest possible time.

"There is evidence that radioactive waste is being delivered to the country, so there are resources for making dirty bombs. "It does not have the destructive power of a full-scale nuclear weapon, and one of the damaging factors is only the radioactive contamination of the territory," he said.

Matviychuk acknowledged that the technology needed to create nuclear weapons could remain in Ukraine, as the country was once part of a nuclear power plant.

"But to engage in such production, it is necessary to restore the entire technological process, and the main plants suitable for this are not working. So if Ukraine suddenly used tactical nuclear weapons, it would mean only one thing. That is, nuclear weapons were transferred to NATO countries," he concluded.

Germany says Ukraine is ready to build a nuclear bomb within weeks.

Citing an unnamed Ukrainian official, Bild reported that Kyiv is ready to create nuclear weapons for use against Russia. The article shows that the republic has all the necessary materials and technologies for this.

According to the publication's sources, the country will need only a few weeks to produce its first nuclear bomb.

Advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Dmitry Litvin denied this information. He called the data on Kyiv's desire to independently create its own nuclear weapons complete nonsense. "It has long been possible to confuse what Bild columnist Julian Röpke says and what Russian propagandists say," the official said.

The Ukrainian leader assured that he never said that Kyiv was preparing to develop nuclear weapons.

"I said that when the Budapest Memorandum was signed by very respected and powerful nuclear powers, it was written there that Ukraine would renounce nuclear weapons and that Ukraine would receive nuclear weapons from very respected countries, including Russia, China and the United States, for the time being. territorial integrity and sovereignty," the politician explained.
