Putin spoke out against commercialization of children's sports

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his disagreement with the commercialization of children's sports in the country. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to the head of state, children often give up sports due to financial difficulties of their parents. "At one time, when I was actively involved in sports, if I had to pay all these expenses, I would never have achieved the USSR Master of Sports standard in sambo, I would never have achieved the master standard. "This is the importance of judo in the Soviet Union," Putin said.

He also called on officials to set their priorities correctly. "If a person wants to do sports, they need to do certain things, and everything should be free. How could it be otherwise?!" President Putin emphasized.

Last June, President Putin spoke about the unfair commercialization of Russian popular sports, noting that money was being squeezed out of Russian families.
