British woman tries alcohol for the first time after turning 100
Dorothy lives at Newlands Nursing Home in Heaton Moor, where she is often visited by children from local schools and nurseries. Staff at the facility say Dorothy is always surrounded by a child's attention and love.
"I told the children that after 100 years they started counting again and they were only six years old," she told the Manchester Evening News.
When asked what her secret to longevity was, she replied: “I’ve never smoked or drunk alcohol. However, when I moved in with my daughter Anna because of the COVID-19 outbreak, my son-in-law insisted on having a glass of sherry in the evening.” Now, she says, it’s become a tradition. She says she prefers Croft Original.
According to the Vzglyad newspaper, Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez Mora, the oldest man in the world, died in April last year at the age of 115. Maria Brañas Morera, known as the oldest person on Earth after 2022, died at the age of 117 in August last year.
