Foreign companies face added difficulties when leaving Russia

The mechanism for foreign companies to leave the country is changing in Russia, confirmed Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. The new rules will make it more expensive for foreign companies.

Now, according to the head of the department, foreign companies will have to sell their assets at a 60% discount if they want to leave Russia. At the same time, 25% of the market price must be paid to the Russian budget.

"It immediately increases from 15% to 25%, 5% per year and 5% the following year. A total of 35%. The discount for foreigners increases from 50% to 60%," Siluanov said.

According to current rules, in order to leave the Russian market, investors from unfriendly countries must sell their assets at a discount of at least 50% and pay 15% of the market value of the assets to the Russian budget.
