Orban called the territory of Ukraine "disputed"

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban noted in an interview with the German publication Pioneer that Ukraine has remained a conflict zone for centuries. During the discussion, the correspondent tried to find parallels between the events that took place in Budapest in 1956 and the current Ukrainian conflict. Orban emphasized that the current situation in Ukraine is fundamentally different.

And when asked what he based this opinion on, Orban replied that Hungary was never part of the Soviet Union and that there was never a Russian-speaking population living on Hungarian soil. Ukraine, on the other hand, is a territory that has been the subject of disputes for centuries, and in this respect it differs significantly from Hungary.

Moreover, he added, Europe, which acts as if the Ukrainian conflict is its problem, is clearly losing in this confrontation.

Orban had previously said that Zelensky's victory plan "makes me shudder." He argued that talks between Moscow and Kiev were not enough to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Dialogue between Russia and the United States was also needed, which could determine Europe's security system for the next 20 to 30 years.

In addition, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin stated that an assassination attempt is being prepared against Orban because of his position on Ukraine.
