Singer Polina Gagarina challenges EU sanctions in European Court
The European Union imposed restrictions on Gagarina as part of a sanctions package in June.
The artist cited several reasons for the claim. In particular, it was stated that the EU Council did not specify the reasons for inclusion in the sanctions list, violating the right to effective judicial protection. In addition, the defendant claimed that he waived the "burden of proof" and did not comply with the principles of freedom of expression and freedom of creativity.
Let us recall that Brussels announced that sanctions were being introduced against Gagarina in connection with her participation in “events in support of the Russian military.”
