Sverdlovsk residents spoke out against the childlessness tax

Yekaterinburg, October 17, FederalPress. 87% of Russians are against introducing a tax on childlessness. The sociological study was conducted in all regions of Russia, including the Sverdlovsk region, from October 14 to 16, 2024.

The proposal evoked the most negative response among young people under 34. 75% of respondents opposed the plan. Among those over 45, self-control was stronger, but still more than half (58%) did not support the introduction of the tax. The study involved 1,600 Russians aged 18 and over.

Commenting on the plan, survey participants noted that the country should focus on improving the social status of Russians so that they themselves want to have children.

FederalPress wrote that economist Alexey Zubets, the author of the idea of a tax on childlessness, complained about threats and hatred on the Internet.
