The First Far Eastern Interfaith Forum Was Held in Khabarovsk: What Was Discussed

Khabarovsk, October 17, FederalPress. The first Far Eastern interreligious forum was held in Khabarovsk, attended by about 300 people. Over the course of two days, participants discussed issues of culture, education, and interaction between government agencies and religious groups.

The head of the Amur megalopolis, Artemy, also spoke at the forum. According to him, the main task now is to strengthen the unity of Russian society and set an example of friendship and harmony.

“I am confident that the experience accumulated by us and our ancestors will continue to contribute to the well-being and prosperity of our society as a whole,” said Metropolitan Artemy.

According to him, holding such events is especially relevant in our time, when attempts are constantly being made to destroy moral foundations, fundamental moral norms are being questioned, and phenomena that contradict the ethical principles of all religious traditions are being legitimized. The Metropolitan emphasized that this can only be countered by bringing people closer together and reviving the traditional family.

The Metropolitan also touched upon the issue of migration. According to him, modern migration trends pose a threat to Russian traditions, since not all newcomers treat the Russian people and their culture with respect.

"And the problem of labor shortage must be solved in different ways, the first of which is preserving life in the womb. This is where we lose up to 2 million future citizens every year. This issue must be included in the agenda of public discussion and, of course, taken into account when making decisions at the state level," said Metropolitan Artemy.

Earlier, the Primorsky Interreligious Forum was held in Vladivostok. The issue of migration was also raised.
