Elon Musk Donates $75 Million to Trump's Presidential Campaign
It was only this year that the billionaire publicly announced his support for the Republican Party.
Elon Musk, the world's richest man, has donated $75 million to Donald Trump's presidential campaign in three months. According to the FT, President Trump has 49 billionaire donors, while his rival Kamala Harris has 75.
Musk has previously publicly criticized both the Democratic and Republican parties and stated that he does not support either party. Over time, his views have become increasingly right-wing, and earlier this year he publicly declared his support for the Republican Party.
In early September, Musk said the Democratic Party had become a "coalition of criminals." He said criminals often vote for Democrats, so the party is too soft on them to avoid losing voters.
As Bloomberg notes, Musk's company has billions of dollars in federal contracts, which is helping the entrepreneurs expand their influence over potential future presidents and members of Congress.
