They Will Come Unexpectedly: This Sign of October 16th Is a Harbinger of Snowfall
In the folk calendar, October 16 is known as Denis Pozimny Day. Our ancestors associated this date with the beginning of persistent cold weather and snow cover. Interestingly, on this day people paid special attention to weather conditions in order to predict the near future.
Traditionally, if the sky was dark and covered with low clouds on October 16, it was a sure sign that snow would soon fall. On the other hand, warm sunny days during this period gave hope that serious frosts would not occur until November 2, the Day of Artemis.
