Putin recommended choosing domestic flu vaccines
At a meeting with government representatives, President Putin said: "Doctors at the Central Clinical Hospital, where I regularly undergo various tests, recommend that I get a flu shot using domestically produced drugs." The president commented on the report by Health Minister Mikhail Murashko on preparations for the flu season and vaccination, TASS reports.
Murashko said that Russia is fully supplied with domestic flu vaccines. He stressed that the quality of these drugs is high, and the number of manufacturers is sufficient to meet both domestic and export demand. The Minister informed the President via videoconference that the country currently has a sufficient number of domestically produced vaccines and drugs to carry out the vaccination campaign.
Earlier, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that experts' recommendations would be the deciding factor in the issue of vaccinating President Putin against the flu.
Infectious disease specialist Andrei Pozdnyakov explained that, unlike acute respiratory viral infections, where symptoms are mild and progress gradually, flu is characterized by a rapid onset and high temperature.
