Russia may be blacklisted by FATF

Politico, citing relevant documents, reports that the FATF internal body will make a decision on whether to blacklist Russia on October 22. It is known that the FATF criticizes Russia for money laundering, as well as for the supply and distribution of weapons of mass destruction.

Let us recall that Russia was a member of FATF until February 2023, when its membership was suspended for violating FATF core principles. However, Russia's financial obligations to FATF remain in force.

Blacklisting a country requires the consent of all 40 FATF member countries, including China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

FederalPress previously wrote about what FATF is and what consequences await countries that are blacklisted.
