Peskov said that Russia respects Kazakhstan's position on BRICS

Russia respects Kazakhstan's position on BRICS. "They independently decide the format of their participation in various organizations," said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.

Earlier, the adviser and press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Berik Uali noted that Kazakhstan will not apply for accession to BRICS in the near future. This decision was made taking into account the complex process of considering membership issues.

He added that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly emphasized the importance of the UN as a universal and necessary platform for discussing all current international issues, including those related to the creation of a fair world order.

"Kazakhstan is our friend, strategic partner and ally. So this is the most important thing. Therefore, Kazakhstan itself determines the format of participation in this or that organization," Peskov said.

He stressed that BRICS is not an alternative to the UN, but a supplement to the work of the UN, which does not contradict the universal nature of the UN. The presidential press secretary said that he was glad that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev would visit Kazan to participate in the BRICS summit, which will be held from October 22 to 24.

"In any case, the participation of the President of Kazakhstan will be a major contribution to the development of regional and international cooperation," Peskov added.

As reported by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan, the program of the visit of the President of Kazakhstan includes a visit to the BRICS summit. On October 24, Tokayev plans to deliver an "address" at an extended meeting of the organization.

Invitations to participate in the conference were sent to 38 countries of the world, 32 of which have already accepted. Yuri Ushakov, adviser to the Russian president on international affairs, said: Eight countries are represented by second or third parties. At the same time, Russia, the host country of the summit, has already invited all its closest neighbors in the CIS, and all of them have expressed their readiness.

The summit is traditionally expected to be attended by the secretaries general of the UN, SCO, CIS, EAEU and the Union states, as well as the presidents of the New Development Bank BRICS.

Official applications to join BRICS have also been submitted by Thailand, Bangladesh, Honduras, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, Senegal, Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Bahrain, Vietnam and Kuwait.
