Forecaster Tishkovets: temporary snow cover formed in Moscow

Evgeny Tishkovets, a senior expert at the Phobos Center, reported that the capital was temporarily covered in snow. According to him, this has not happened in Pokrov for 32 years.

"At the capital's VDNKh reference meteorological station, the snow cover is 1 cm thick. Snow cover usually appears only at the end of November. However, rapid warming will cause all the snow to melt within the next 24-36 hours," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

At the same time, in the Moscow region, snow at a level of 1 cm is observed in Kashira, Pavlovsky Posad and Naro-Fominsk, in the Moscow region - 2 cm, in Dmitrov - 3 cm, in Serpukhov - 4 cm, in Serpukhov - 5 cm - in Mikhailovskoye and Krasnaya Pakhra.

The expert noted that previous snowfalls on Pokrov were recorded in 2013, 2007, 1992, 1977, 1975 and 1973. At the same time, at the VDNKh station in mid-October 1959, only 1 cm of snow fell, in 1973 - 2 cm, in 1976 - 4 cm and in 1992 - 3 cm.

Weather conditions are expected to improve over the weekend, with temperatures possibly rising to 10 degrees, Tishkovets added.

On the morning of October 14, the first snow fell in Moscow. The data center asked Muscovites to transfer to the metro due to the bad weather.

23% of the monthly precipitation fell in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 22 mm of precipitation fell in Serpukhov near Moscow, which corresponds to 38% of the total October norm.
