Vladivostok is getting serious about water drainage systems
According to the DEITA.RU news agency, more than 1,100 cubic meters of garbage and dirt were removed during the cleaning of the storm drain on Imanskaya Street in Vladivostok.
The main stage of work on cleaning the drainage system in the Imsky district has been completed, Vladivostok administration specialists report. The work will be carried out by a specialized contractor. Thanks to the thorough cleaning of storm drains, there were much fewer floods in this area earlier. The contractor's team removed the garbage, silt and dirt collected during the cleaning process. Trees were also trimmed and stumps were uprooted in open areas of the drainage system.
"This year, comprehensive road repairs were carried out in Avrovskaya, Imanskaya and Komsomolskaya, including the restoration of storm drain networks, in accordance with the state project "Safe and High-Quality Roads". It was also decided to allocate additional funds for cleaning storm drains connecting the flooded areas of the district with Bezymyannaya Bay. About 520 linear meters of the drainage system were cleaned, more than 1,100 cubic meters of garbage, silt and soil were collected and removed," says a specialist from the road department of the Vladivostok administration.
Imanskaya is not the only district of the capital of Primorye whose drainage system is carefully monitored. Large-scale work was carried out in the areas of Pogranichnaya and Batareynaya streets, traditionally subject to severe flooding in the city due to heavy rains. The road surface will be dismantled and storm drains will be opened on the site. Then we inspect and clean the drainage system and carry out the necessary repairs. These measures will prevent significant flooding of the territory during periods of heavy rains.
