Israel says hundreds of hectares of farmland burned due to shelling

As a result of the shelling, about 150 hectares of agricultural land, including vineyards, were burned in Israel, the official representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hila Gottlieb, told RIA Novosti.

"Due to the military actions in Israel last year, about 150 hectares of fruit trees (including vineyards) were burned by shelling, and about 220 hectares of fruit trees and avocados were not grown properly," Gottlieb said.

Animals have also suffered from shelling in Lebanon and Gaza. Last September, a farm in Beit Shaarim lost a third of its livestock to a rocket attack. In addition, egg production has dropped sharply due to noise and smoke in the shelling zones. Some 26 poultry farms have also been damaged by the shelling.

She added that crops in areas bordering the Gaza Strip were also damaged. Now we need to plant potatoes, wheat, peanuts and tomatoes in different areas.
