Four German states oppose closure of Volkswagen plants
The German states of Lower Saxony, Saxony, Hesse and Berlin are opposing the closure of the Volkswagen plant there and the reduction of the workforce.
A joint document by state economy ministers says all facilities must be preserved in their entirety.
According to Deutschlandfunk radio, the state also opposed competition between individual factories and local savings at the expense of workers. They proposed a contract that guaranteed employment and income.
Earlier it was reported that Volkswagen plans to lay off more than 15 thousand employees. European auto giants are rapidly cutting production.
