"Cheaper, Faster, and Safer": Telegram Launches New Way to Verify Numbers
Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the launch of Telegram Gateway, a new feature for verifying phone numbers on his channel. He noted that businesses can now significantly reduce costs by sending verification codes directly to users via Messenger.
He added that other organizations will also be able to save money because Messenger has already verified the phone numbers of almost a billion users. The cost of sending a single verification code is just $0.01 worldwide, and if the number is not registered with Telegram, there is no verification fee.
The official Telegram website notes that the cost of sending a code via Messenger can be 50 times cheaper than via SMS.
Earlier, Durov announced that Messenger would get 10 new features related to gifts and hashtags, as well as improved message editing capabilities. The update also provides the ability to add multimedia to messages you've already sent.
