Ceiling collapses in half-century-old residential building in Russian city

In Barnaul, the ceiling of a residential building built in 1959 collapsed.

In Barnaul, the ceiling partially collapsed in an apartment in a two-story building built in 1959. The city administration press service reported this situation.

The half-century-old building on Internatsionalnaya Street has only six apartments. As a result of the accident, no one among the 11 owners of the car was injured. A high alert regime has been introduced on the territory of the building. Residents have been evacuated, access to the building has been temporarily restricted. Emergency services, as well as representatives of the mayor's office and the district council, will be working on the site. Experts must assess the technical condition of the building.

Earlier, the ceiling in the lobby of a school in Perm Krai collapsed. Plaster also fell in the agency's offices. A similar situation occurred when a house was moving to Vladivostok at the end of September. The incident is explained by the dilapidated condition of the building. Due to unusually heavy rain, the building's exterior began to deteriorate. In both cases, no one was hurt.
