Hibernating: Fountains in St. Petersburg Turned Off Until Spring

It's getting colder in St. Petersburg every day. Sometimes there were frosts at night. And this has a negative effect on the fountain. So I decided to turn off all the waterfalls. Yesterday (October 13) was my last working day. And today, October 14, the buildings will start preparing for hibernation.

Earlier, the Smolny press service reported that "employees of the State Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal of Saint Petersburg are required to carry out a set of technical measures that will help protect the facility's equipment from exposure to low temperatures."

The specialists first drain the water from the pipeline system, disassemble the pumping equipment and lighting, then seal and prepare the fountain device for the cold weather. And in winter, the operability of all the equipment of the "Water Pearl" will be checked. If necessary, parts and units are replaced so that all structures are fully prepared for the spring opening of the season.

By the way, this year residents and guests of the northern capital were delighted by 100 water pearls, including three fountain complexes.
