Aksyonov proposed replacing the term “new regions”

The term "new regions" associated with the DPR and LPR, the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions should be gradually abandoned, said the head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov at a conference on the development of sports and tourism, which was held in Yalta on October 11.
According to him, these are historical regions of the Russian Empire. Their inhabitants have always been "us", including the Soviet Union.
"How new is this? Historical Russian regions have always existed. "We must gradually move away from the "new" rhetoric," Aksyonov said at the conference "New Horizons: Developing Sports and Tourism in New Regions of Russia."
The head of Crimea added that those who are restoring life in the liberated territory are showing courage. He thanked the residents of the region for their understanding and patience.
As reported by the Regnum agency, the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum on unification with Russia. In October 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Constitution on granting the country new territories and creating new entities.
