Peskov doubts the effectiveness of introducing a childlessness tax in Russia

Russia's proposal to introduce a tax on childlessness requires further analysis, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti. According to him, it is necessary to study the Soviet experience on this issue, but it is doubtful that such measures will have a significant impact on the birth rate.

Peskov recalled that a similar tax had already been applied in the Soviet Union, but the Kremlin currently does not have detailed information about what exactly the new proposal means.

"We must analyze this experience. At first glance, this tax had little impact on the demographic situation," the Russian leader's press secretary concluded.

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov revealed Vladimir Putin's preferences in clothing. He noted that products from Russian manufacturers are especially popular in our president's wardrobe.
